YBN Mk212 is the titanium roller version of the Mk12 – compatible with sram 12/13spd Flat Top Drivetrains.
The Mk12 series is the “go fast” chain option (dedicated race chain option) for Sram flat top drivetrains.
YBN titanium series are a special little niche – no one else in the world is making chains with titanium rollers to save some more grams out of your chain!
Note however;
- This is more of a “luxury” special product – ie a spare no expense as one has unlimited budget for a weight weenie build where every gram counts.
- On a “normal” length of chain (once cut to length) – in general you could expect to save around 5 to 10 grams vs other lightweight chain options.
- As such there is no actual measurable “performance” advantage with such a difference.
- From a purely performance perspective, you will be VASTLY better off buying TWO normal mk12’s – one for racing, one for training etc, or a mk12 for racing and a very hard wearing sram HARDCHROME level 12/ 13spd chain (Force, Red etc) for training. This is enormously more bang for buck overall.
- Think of this as like the “Versace” of high end chains. It is genuinely a top level chain just like all of YBN’s top tier level offerings, but you are paying a big premium for the Titanium rollers that will not give any measurable performance advantage.
Spare no expense spenders go for it, normal people – head towards normal Mk12’s!
